Martyn Whittaker of Wavy Grain Lakeland Wood will be at the Cumbria Life Home & Garden Show for the first time in 2020. Visitors may associate this Barrow-based business with food fairs as he’s well known for his gorgeous locally sourced hardwood chopping boards, cheese boards and serving platters but it’s his garden furniture that I’ve fallen in love with.
Whether it’s a fairly traditional design of bench or seat with the added luxury of hardwood or a garden table made from a single piece of sycamore or oak, every piece is unique. Martyn specialises in letting the wood show off its texture and colour to dramatic effect and he’ll often share the background to the timber with customers too as he usually knows the source and story behind it.
