As some of you will know, the team at Rheged are moving things around “under the hill” at the moment. Maureen and I have seen the plans and we’d been told we would have the new Gallery space available for the Cumbria Life Home and Garden Show 2020 (as well as our usual exhibition halls).
Last week I saw the new Gallery for myself and I think it’s going to be an amazing space for the Show.
It’s always hard to imagine from a flat plan but the Gallery has taken over where the Toy Shop used to be on the first floor at Rheged. But it’s bigger – much, much bigger – as it extends into the former stock rooms and other spaces too.
I’d been a bit concerned about the number of columns and how the lighting would work for the Show but I needn’t have worried. There are very few supporting columns, lots of moveable screens and white walls for displays and the space has really flexible lighting as well.
If you get a chance, I’d recommend the Great Print Exhibition (open until early March) and then you can imagine for yourself how amazing it’s going to be when the Gallery is full of the best of Cumbrian home and garden businesses. I think it’s going to be a bit of a WOW for our stallholders and for visitors alike.
