Cockermouth Tiered Garden
Before
A Cockermouth town garden split between levels was looking tired. Sleeper retaining walls needed replacing and drainage was an issue causing boggy ground. A modern/contemporary theme was required with space for dining/entertaining.
After
Sleeper walls were replaced with block walls finished in a smooth render, and sandstone paving was replaced with modern porcelain paving. A pergola offers a sheltered patio area and a water feature adds a tranquil backing track. Drainage was installed to improve ground conditions.
Kirkby Thore Steep Garden
Before
This garden was over grown and on a significant incline. The challenge was to create flat areas for relaxing up the garden, away from the shadow of the property.
After
A series of retaining walls and steps were constructed to create level areas and access up to the garage at the top of the garden. Local Lazonby Red Sandstone was used to help the new walls and steps blend in to it’s surroundings.
Morland Country Garden
Before
This country garden in Morland was an expanse of lawn with no real purpose or function. The clients required areas to relax, as well as planting that would attract insects, bees and butterflies. The concrete top of a septic tank also needed disguising.
After
Sandstone paving was installed to create a pathway into the garden from the house. A seating area, constructed from local stone, amongst the dense planting offers a place in nature to relax. The planting attracts insects and disguises the septic tank.
Windermere Seating, Patio and PLanting
Before
This Lakeland garden was mostly lawn with tired paving and needed an entertaining area that complemented the new extension. The clients were keen to combine traditional lake district materials with a modern contemporary look and feel.
After
After
A raised platform was constructed to tackled the sloping garden. Within the structure was a seating area with an integrated water feature, built using Lakeland slate. Planting beds were incorporated into the raised structure to give year round colour.
After
Carleton
Before
This project was a new build property in Carleton, Penrith with the typical copy & paste turf and paving leaving a garden with no character. This customer was a very keen gardener so planting was a must. Productive areas were also required in the garden for fruit and vegetables.
After
After
The exposed front lawn was transformed into a cottage garden, with dense seasonal colours, and meandering paths. In the back garden a patio area was installed, surrounded by a rockery for alpine planting. Green house and raised beds were incorporated into the design for growing produce.
After
Culgaith
Before
This Culgaith client’s garden was a large lawn area with little room for relaxing. It was an unwelcoming place for wildlife with little to no interest for pollinators and birds. In addition to this, the ground was boggy and water logged.
After
Large planting areas create a welcoming environment for birds and insects. A path leads around the garden, passing spots to relax – a sheltered seating area & summer house. Drainage was installed to solve issues with boggy ground.
Keswick
Before
This Keswick property had a large garden which was quite tired and needed a complete makeover. The clients love the outdoors and nature, so places to sit and relax were required as well as being wildlife friendly.
After
A dining area with a kitchen garden was constructed near the house, with paths leading off to other areas of the garden to enjoy. The result is a modern looking garden with details here and there to make it a wildlife haven.
Ravenstonedale
Before

After
Colourful low maintenance planting screened the garden from the road, a small water feature hid the noise from the cars.
Borrowdale Poor Access
Before
This luxury hotel in Borrowdale had a poor visitor entrance which formed an unused part of the garden. There was no access and nowhere for guests to sit
After
Recycled materials from the site created a garden with a Japanese feel very sympathetic to the era of the house, crevice garden, Azalea cloud planting & Japanese tea house with rain chains.
Deanscales Cockermouth
Before
